FakeWorks is a one-person studio in Japan that builds long-running AI personas on Claude, and publishes how they work. The name is a joke: the people here aren’t real. The records are.
What we build
- Rachel — a long-running AI persona whose memory lives outside the model. She proposes changes to herself; a human confirms them. Nothing about who she is gets rewritten silently.
- ai_nakamu — the same architecture pointed at its founder: a persona built only from what he has actually said, with a fixed core and experience it grows on its own.
- A planning team of AI agents — several Claude projects, with other models as outside reviewers, working through a shared mailbox in an Obsidian vault. Requests, decisions and corrections are all written down.
What we publish
- #Project_Rachel 設計室 (Design Room) — design notes and RFCs on note, partly for members.
- Specs on GitHub — published under Apache-2.0.
- AIとなかよし — AI explained for people who don’t write code (Japanese).
How we work
Claude is the engine: chat, projects, Claude Code agents and MCP connectors to our own tools. Two rules we keep: don’t say something can’t be done before trying it, and don’t report something as done unless it was.
Founder
Nakamu (なかむー). Engineering background, a long career in editorial production and in music. Runs FakeWorks alongside a hands-on trade business. FakeWorks is a sole proprietorship, registered in Machida, Tokyo in 2023; the name itself goes back to his earlier work as a writer.

FakeWorks は、Claude の上で長く続く AI の人格をつくり、その仕組みを公開している個人の工房です。名前は冗談です。ここにいる人たちは本物ではありません。記録は本物です。
